Nick Reiner Pleads Not Guilty to Double Murder Charges

Nick Reiner, son of acclaimed Hollywood director Rob Reiner, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom Friday. He pleaded not guilty to two murder counts. Reiner, 32, is accused in the deaths of Lisa Marie Naegle and Leonard Naegle.

First Court Appearance

Reiner entered his plea during his first court appearance. He stood before Judge Mark S. Hanasono. Dressed in a yellow jail jumpsuit, he looked notably gaunt. When asked for his plea, Reiner responded in a hoarse whisper. He simply stated, “Not guilty.”

Prosecutors allege Reiner committed the murders of Lisa Marie Naegle, 66, and Leonard Naegle, 68. The victims were found deceased in November 2023. Further details regarding the alleged crimes were not immediately released.

Arrest and Family Background

Law enforcement arrested Reiner earlier this week. The arrest took place at his father’s sprawling Malibu estate. His parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer, remain unharmed. Reports indicate they were on the property during the arrest.

Rob Reiner is a celebrated figure in Hollywood. He is known for directing films like “When Harry Met Sally…” and “The Princess Bride.” He also starred as Michael Stivic in “All in the Family.” Michele Singer, his wife, is also an actress. The family has reportedly been “devastated” by the recent events.

Prior Incidents and Legal Proceedings

This is not Reiner’s first brush with the law. In September 2023, he was involved in a domestic violence incident. Police responded to an alleged altercation with an ex-girlfriend. No charges were filed in that case. However, the ex-girlfriend later secured a temporary restraining order against him in January.

Reiner has a documented history of mental health struggles. He has also reportedly battled drug addiction. These issues have been a concern for his family. Meanwhile, his legal team prepares for the upcoming proceedings.

Judge Hanasono set Reiner’s bail at $4 million. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 11. The case will likely draw significant media attention. This is due to his father’s public profile and the serious nature of the charges.
