This victory moved him into the quarterfinals. However, his quarterfinal match proved challenging. He met Jordan Joslin, who later reached the state final. Joslin defeated Hoffman with a 10-0 major decision. This moved Hoffman into the wrestleback bracket. He quickly recovered. In his wrestleback match, Hoffman pinned Jayden Aponte in 2 minutes and 1 second. This crucial win ensures Hoffman will continue wrestling on Saturday. He remains in contention for a place on the podium.

Yerico and Brooks Conclude Their Seasons

Jayden Yerico competed for Fredonia in the 116-pound weight class. His first opponent was Darren Florance. Florance later advanced to the state final. Yerico was pinned in 2 minutes and 48 seconds during his preliminary match. This loss sent him to the wrestleback bracket. There, he faced Logan D’Angelo. Yerico lost a close 3-0 decision. This unfortunately ended his run at the state championships.

Meanwhile, Matt Brooks represented Fredonia at 170 pounds. His preliminary bout was against Matt Gaiser. Gaiser also made it to the state final. Brooks was pinned in 42 seconds. This moved him into the wrestlebacks. His second match was against Owen Schanbacher. Brooks was pinned again, this time in 1 minute and 24 seconds. Both Yerico and Brooks faced tough competition.
