Mr. Brandt died peacefully at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, New York. His passing marks the end of a life rich in service and dedication to his community and loved ones.
A Life of Learning and Service
Carl O. Brandt was born on May 12, 1946. His parents were Carl A. and Alice L. (Carlson) Brandt. He grew up in the Fredonia area. He graduated from Fredonia High School in 1964. Mr. Brandt continued his education. He attended SUNY Brockport. Later, he earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science. This degree was from the University at Buffalo.
Dedicated Military Service
Mr. Brandt proudly served his country. He was a member of the U.S. Navy. He served during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected his commitment. He always put duty first. This early experience shaped his character.
Family and Legacy
On May 17, 1969, Carl married Sandra Wensel. Their marriage spanned over five decades. They built a wonderful life together. Together, they raised two children. Their son is David Brandt and his wife, Jill. Their daughter is Kelly Gier and her husband, Daniel. Carl was a cherished grandfather. Friends and family may call on Monday, October 21. Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. This will be at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 22. It begins at 10 a.m. The service will be at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fredonia. Reverend Milton G. Nieske will officiate. Full military honors will be observed. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Fredonia, New York.
