Bottled Water Recall: Valley Springs Artesian Gold Contains High Fluoride

Valley Springs LLC has announced a voluntary recall. This recall affects its Artesian Gold bottled water products. The reason is elevated levels of naturally occurring fluoride. This announcement came on February 27, 2026. High fluoride can pose a health risk to consumers.

Details of the Recalled Product

The recall covers all sizes of Valley Springs Artesian Gold bottled water. This includes 3-gallon and 5-gallon bottles. It also affects cases of 24 16.9-ounce bottles. The affected lot codes are 112423, 112523, 112623, and 120123. Consumers can find lot codes on the bottle or bottle cap. These products were distributed through various channels. They reached customers in several U.S. states. This includes direct home delivery and retail stores.

Potential Health Risks

Consuming too much fluoride can lead to health problems. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sets safety limits. Levels above these limits are considered unsafe. Long-term exposure to high fluoride can cause dental fluorosis. This condition affects tooth enamel. Symptoms include discoloration or pitting of teeth. More severe exposure can lead to skeletal fluorosis. This impacts bones and joints. It can cause pain, stiffness, and bone damage. Young children are especially vulnerable to dental fluorosis. People with kidney problems are also at higher risk for skeletal issues. The FDA stated that testing showed levels above their allowable limit of 2.0 parts per million (ppm). Some samples reached up to 3.4 ppm.

FDA Oversight and Compliance

The FDA discovered the high fluoride levels during a routine inspection. The agency works to ensure product safety. All food and beverage products must meet federal standards. Valley Springs LLC is cooperating fully with the FDA. The company has initiated the recall to protect public health. This action aligns with FDA guidelines for product safety.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers who purchased Valley Springs Artesian Gold water should stop drinking it. Check product labels for the brand and lot codes. Do not consume any of the recalled water. Customers can return the affected products. A full refund will be provided. Contact Valley Springs LLC for return instructions. Their customer service number is 1-800-XXX-XXXX. This number is also available on the company’s website. If you have consumed this water and have health concerns, consult a doctor. Keep all receipts and packaging if possible.

Company Statement and Future Actions

Valley Springs LLC expressed regret for any inconvenience. They stated their commitment to quality. The company is reviewing its production processes. They aim to prevent similar issues in the future. Meanwhile, new products will undergo stricter testing. This ensures compliance with all safety regulations. The company appreciates consumer understanding during this time.
