Local Sports Roundup: September 29, 2025

Here’s a look at the local sports action from September 29, 2025. Several area teams were in action.

High School Football

The Northwood High School football team defeated the visiting South Creek Titans on Friday night. The final score was 28-14. Northwood’s quarterback, Jake Miller, threw for two touchdowns. Running back, Sarah Johnson, added 110 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Northwood defense held South Creek to under 200 total yards. Northwood is now 5-1 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Riverside High School Bears lost a close game to the Capital City Eagles. The final score was 21-20. Riverside’s kicker missed a late field goal attempt. The Bears are now 3-3 on the season.

High School Volleyball

The Northwood High School volleyball team swept the South Creek Titans in three sets. Scores were 25-18, 25-20, and 25-22. Senior outside hitter, Emily Carter, led the team with 15 kills. Northwood is now 12-2 on the season.

The Riverside High School volleyball team also had a successful night. They defeated the Capital City Eagles in four sets. The scores were 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, and 25-21. Riverside’s setter, Tom Williams, had 40 assists in the match. The Bears improved to 10-4 on the season.

Other Sports News

The Northwood High School cross-country team competed in the Citywide Invitational on Saturday. The boys’ team finished in second place. The girls’ team finished in third place. Several runners achieved personal best times.
