Terri A. Goodspeed, Fredonia Community Leader and Banking Executive, Passes Away at 62

Terri A. Goodspeed, a respected banking executive and active community leader, passed away on February 1, 2026. She was 62 years old. Ms. Goodspeed died peacefully at Buffalo General Hospital. Her home was in Fredonia, New York. Her passing marks the end of a life dedicated to service and professional excellence.

Early Life and Education

Terri Goodspeed was born in Dunkirk, New York, on April 10, 1963. Her parents were Richard Goodspeed Sr. and Joyce D. (Crowell) Goodspeed. She grew up in a supportive family environment. Ms. Goodspeed was a proud graduate of Fredonia High School in 1981. She continued her education at Jamestown Community College. Later, she attended Bryant & Stratton. These experiences shaped her future career in finance.

Distinguished Career in Banking

Ms. Goodspeed enjoyed a long and successful career in banking. She spent more than 35 years at Lake Shore Savings Bank. There, she served as Executive Assistant to the President and CEO. She also held the vital role of Corporate Secretary. Before Lake Shore Savings, Ms. Goodspeed worked at Bank of America, previously known as Fleet Bank. She also gained experience at Key Bank. Her dedication and expertise were evident throughout her professional life.

Commitment to Community Service

Terri Goodspeed was deeply involved in her local community. She dedicated countless hours to various organizations. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dunkirk. She served on its Council, held roles as Treasurer and President, and was part of the Consistory. In addition, Ms. Goodspeed was a foundational member of the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. She served on its Board, acting as Secretary and Treasurer. Her efforts significantly impacted local philanthropy.

Furthermore, Ms. Goodspeed was a committed member of the Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Club. She served on its Board and as Secretary and President. She earned the esteemed Paul Harris Fellow recognition. She also led the Fredonia Business and Professional Women (BPW) organization. There, she served on the Board, and as Secretary, Treasurer, and President. Her leadership extended to the Fredonia College Council. She was its President and served on both the Executive and Audit Committees.

Ms. Goodspeed’s community involvement also included the Chautauqua County Historical Society. She served on its Board. She contributed to the Brooks Memorial Hospital Board. Moreover, she was active with the Dunkirk Lighthouse and Veteran’s Park Museum. She held a Board position and served as Secretary. She also participated in the Fredonia Central School District Strategic Planning Committee. Ms. Goodspeed was a leader for the United Way campaign. She served on the NCCF Scholarship Committee. Her tireless work enriched many lives.

Personal Life and Interests

Outside of her professional and community roles, Terri Goodspeed cherished personal time. She loved to travel, especially to beaches. Reading was a favorite pastime. She also enjoyed gardening and crafting. Attending concerts and taking walks brought her joy. She valued time with her family and friends. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.

Family Legacy

Terri is survived by her loving brothers: Richard Goodspeed Jr., Timothy R. Goodspeed, and Robert L. Goodspeed. She was predeceased by her brother, Scott A. Goodspeed. Her memory is also honored by her nieces and nephews. These include Justin (Stephanie), Kaitlyn, Tyler, Jordan Goodspeed, and Jenna (Andrew) Long. She leaves behind great-nieces and nephews: Emma, Riley, Addison, and Wyatt. Terri is also survived by her aunts, Judy Goodspeed, Gail Goodspeed, and Marilyn Crowell. She had many cherished cousins. She was predeceased by her aunt, Carolyn Crowell.

Funeral Services and Memorial Contributions

Calling hours for Ms. Goodspeed will be held on February 5, 2026. They are from 4 PM to 7 PM at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home in Dunkirk. A funeral service will take place on February 6, 2026. It begins at 11 AM at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dunkirk. Reverend Daniel P. Rumfelt will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Fredonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed. Donations can be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, or the Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Club. These organizations reflect Ms. Goodspeed’s lifelong dedication. They will continue her legacy of community support.
