Niagara Bottling Issues Nationwide Recall for Spring Water Bottles

Niagara Bottling, LLC has announced a significant voluntary recall. This recall involves over 650,000 plastic bottles of its “Spring Water” brand. The company initiated the action due to packaging concerns. These concerns stem from unsanitary conditions at a production facility.

The recalled products were distributed across the entire United States. They reached various retail stores. Consumers are strongly advised not to consume the affected water. Instead, they should follow instructions for a full refund or exchange.

Understanding the Water Bottle Recall Details

The recall targets several popular “Spring Water” bottle sizes. These include 8-ounce multi-packs, 16.9-ounce multi-packs, and 1-gallon containers. Specifically, 12-count 8 fl oz, 24-count 8 fl oz, 24-count 16.9 fl oz, 24-count 16.9 fl oz (sports cap), 32-count 16.9 fl oz, and 6-count 0.5-gallon packages are part of this action. The 1-gallon bottles are also included.

Customers must check the “Best By” dates printed on their bottles. The recalled water carries “Best By” dates ranging from June 10, 2025, through June 18, 2025. Additionally, consumers can identify affected products by their Universal Product Codes (UPC). These codes are 072558000018, 072558000025, 072558000049, 072558000056, 072558000063, and 072558000070. Each bottle will also specify “Niagara Bottling” as the bottler on its label.

The Cause: Unsanitary Production Conditions

The core issue originated at one of Niagara Bottling’s facilities. Company inspections revealed the presence of a “non-toxic alga.” This alga was found near an intake valve. The valve is crucial for drawing water from the natural spring source.

While the alga itself poses a low direct health risk, its discovery led to unsanitary conditions. These conditions could have potentially compromised the purity of the water during the packaging process. Niagara Bottling acted swiftly upon this finding.

The company immediately halted production at the affected line. They implemented rigorous cleaning and sanitization protocols. Production resumed only after all necessary corrective actions were thoroughly completed. This commitment underscores Niagara Bottling’s dedication to product safety and quality control.

Consumer Safety and Next Steps

Niagara Bottling maintains that the probability of adverse health effects from consuming the recalled water is low. However, out of an abundance of caution, the recall was initiated. Consumer health and confidence are paramount.

It is important to note that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) did not issue a public alert for this specific incident. This was a voluntary recall initiated entirely by Niagara Bottling. Such actions are a common practice for companies committed to high safety standards.

Customers who possess any of the recalled “Spring Water” bottles should dispose of them or return them. They can bring the water to the original place of purchase for a full refund or exchange. For further assistance or questions, consumers can also directly contact Niagara Bottling’s customer service department. The company has made channels available to support customers through this process.

This nationwide product recall serves as a critical reminder. It highlights the constant need for vigilance in food and beverage safety. Consumers are encouraged to remain informed about product alerts. Checking labels and best-by dates regularly helps ensure household safety.
